10 Tips For Glowing Skin

I am naturally blessed with clear skin (thank you mum!). I have never had acne or any major issues with my skin . But during my pregnancy, things changed. I suffered from pigmentation, acne and small annoying bumps on my skin.

Since then I have started taking extra care and followed a skin care routine to tackle the problem. So I wanted to share 10 tips with you that helped me get clear glowing skin

1.Drink Celery juice every morning:

Celery juice is amazing for your skin. It contains so many nutrients like vitamin A, K and C and is a powerful antioxidant. Drink it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and you will notice a change in your skin within a month for sure.

2. Follow a skin-care regime:

As you get older your skin loses elasticity and ages along with you. It is really important to follow a skin care routine with at least three basic steps of cleansing, toning and moisturizing. The key is to be consistent. Follow it religiously and make it a habit to get that glowing skin.

3. Use quality products:

I cannot stress enough about the importance of using quality products on your skin. Low quality products contains a dangerous amount of lead and other chemicals that are harmful for the skin. Be it makeup or skin care make sure you do a lot of research before using it.

4. Detoxify once a week:

Keep aside a day in your week for detoxification. Drink lots of detox water with cucumber, mint and lemon. Go to the sauna if you can and if you can’t then at least use a face steamer.

5.DIY face masks:

Once or twice a week use a home- made face mask. I say “home-made” because you control what goes into your mask as opposed to store bought ones, but you can do that too if you don’t have the time to make one. Cut up a tomato in half, dip it in honey and rub it on your face. As easy as it gets.

6. Hydrate:

The most cliche advise that I can give you is to drink lots of water. We have heard this a million times but this one is the most difficult to follow. If you want clear skin, even if you don’t follow everything and just drink at least 8 to 11 glasses of water everyday, can and will do the job.

7.Get regular facials/peels:

If you have the resources and time then I strongly advise you to get facials or peels once a month. It will totally up your skin game and you will also get to enjoy some me time. I also like the peel by The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution which I use once a week.

8. Remove facial hair:

Shaving, waxing or threading your facial hair can make your face look clean and the process of hair removal can also help in eliminating dead skin. I usually use facial razors to remove hair and peach fuzz before applying makeup as it makes the application easy and not patchy.

9. Exfoliate:

Exfoliating is a must to achieve a clear complexion. Do it twice a week. Do not over-exfoliate for it can cause breakouts and dry out your skin. I have found better results with chemical exfoliators with Glycolic acid in them than scrubs. Use what suits best for your skin type.

10. Use SPF:

This goes without saying if you don’t use sunscreen, everything you do would not be enough. This was the biggest mistake I made. I did not start using sunscreen until a few years ago. As “desis”, we are not taught the importance of sunscreens, but it is equally important for all skin colors, types or textures.

    Lol..sorry for the confusion..people from India, pakistan, bangladesh area are called ‘desi’ people..
